Description

My first thought for a title was, I Got the Blues :-) Photo taken yesterday at Rimrock Lake along Highway 12 in the Cascade Mountains about 40 miles west of Yakima, Washington.

Very nice soft focus, symmetrical, water reflection shot, Bill. A very long time ago, back when I developed my own b&w photos from film, I took a few photos that were similar to this, then rotate them 90 degrees & find all kinds of faces & objects in them. I think I have one or two prints left & may scan & post them at some point...

Or we could ask the obvious question, is this from your "blue" period? A beautiful and well composed shoit.

Yeah, with your title, I also thought of the blues. ("I got those rimrock blues...") A long dream of a photo, with beautiful coordination throughout, all hues flow into all others, the shapes meld into each other, the reflections and the actual land are in communion, the sky and water are of like mind---a beautiful long poem of a shot, with all the moodiness of this sight in tact. Wonderful detail in the frontmost jut of land (with those beautiful trees doused in shadow and dappled light). And such painterly mist and atmosphere in the background. (Renaissance painters "discovered" that atmosphere in painting: Medieval paintings often had backgrounds with almost as much definition as foregrounds; but Renaissance painters used fade, muddle, loss of definition---the things that atmosphere does, in their backgrounds; and thus brought the magic of space into their works. That's what you have here, in spades.) Beautifiul work on all levels. Even the reflection of background mountains is in perfect line with the reflection of the foreground land. A sweeping vision of a piece.
