Description

I shot this image the other night with a QHY-5I camera on a 10" Meade SCT at the Worley Observatory. The atmosphere was moving alot but I did get a good photo of Rima Ariadaeus and its linear rille. Over 300 kilometers long, it is thought to have been formed when a section of the Moon's crust sank down between two parallel fault lines (making it a fault trough). It is a relatively young lunar feature, with few craters or other features overlying it.
