Description
I have been toying for months to try to produce nice rocky textures. I love the Sedona Area and wanted to do it justice...Red Rock Country !!! Well this one is red...maybe to much so.... but I have photos that have as much red !!! Anyway... Hello all ! Have a lot of people to thank in producing this scene. The whole thing started with a file from glen5700 on rock patterns for cracks. I dissected his files and half understood the concept of his node arrangements. I modified some parameters to my liking, added a few nodes and played with it for a few days to finally come to this. Thanks a lot glen5700 for the help and sharing. Volker Harun was also of much help in troubleshooting some problems with the stones. Thanks Volker ! Also some of the surfaces and other attributes were started from file purchased at NewWorld Digital Art... Thanks Frank and others for making this available at a resonable price (the sky in this scene is yours) !!! I have probably forgotten others that have been of help in getting to this point with TG2 and I do apologize to these people for this ! Good fractured rock effect. The only possible suggestion I have is to put more blue in the sky to balance the saturated reds of the terrain (it's just a complimentary colour thing). Apart from that possible enhancement; excellent render.

I also remember Sedona very well when four guys - Steve, Paul, Jay and Bob got together to enjoy a mutual hobby and the company of each other talking about our great endeavors creating Terragen images ...I'll never forget it. Today, we are apart; but, the fun we enjoyed together will remain a pleasant thought. Paul, I hope we can do it again some day; and, your work here is new beginnings for you as you explore the intricacies of TG2.

I love the middle ground. The foreground seems too stark to me and too saturated (but I'd have no way of knowing if it is really like that...) I think for the foreground it may improve if you use small fake stones to get dirt and grime mixed in with it, and perhaps some type of dry sage. You really should keep working on this image, to me there is great potential here!!
