Description

Here we have an English Electric Lightning F6 of 11 squadron RAF on a full after burner climb into the stratosphere. .. an Aviation legend. I nearly titled this one 'Party Piece' as the exhibition take off for a Lightning was a short climb after lift off to get a bit of speed up, before pulling into a near vertical climb.. ..and we are talking early 60's here!. If anyone can remember the UK doco series "fighter pilot", who couldn't fail to be impressed by the opening sequence to the series, where an F4 or F5 trainer does exactly this. It wasn't the fastest way for the Lightning to get to altitude, but it by far the most impressive. Also, the first jet that could supercruise....and also the only Mach 2+ all British Fighter.. I could waffle on, as the EE Lightning is my fav 'hair dryer' of all time, and is a big fav of Rob's (debbielove) too The Lightning model, with textures is by Neil (Newil) over at ShareCG.. the rest was all created in photoshop... no nice photo backgrounds to ease the the work this time! Hope everyone is having a good start to their week!

We actually have a few here at Cranfield Martin - I don't think they're airworthy anymore but they do get their engines fired up and go up and down the runway for a bit. Quite a sight and sound!!

He does!!!!! A stunning Render! Perfect mate! What more can you add.. As I have mentioned, The RAF ceiling was around 80,000 feet limit, but an E.E. test pilot took on in South Africa to 102,000 feet and it was still climbing but losing control, it had reached the edge of Space! It was indeed a Rocket was a man on top.. Most figures for its performance are still on the secrets list.. Surprised? My ALL time Fave Aircraft! Cheers mate! Rob
