Description

Queen Anne's Lace getting ready to open. Skagit River Walk Mount Vernon, Washington August, 2015 .......... If you're interested in helping to facilitate some changes around here, go to the Forum and add your voice to some of the conversations. So far I've mentioned 20 different bugs, issues and improvements to the PTB here at RR, and have received answers (at the least) and improvements (more often than not) on 13 of those 20 items. I'm not the only one bugging them, but I've been consistently asking and reminding and asking again! Working together with other RR artists and the folks at the main office, the following changes have already been made: - Do you remember that the image size they gave us with the switchover was 1200 x 1500 pixels? Now it's back to 4000 x 4000, with no size limit. That means you no longer have to resize your images to 512kb. - We were limited to 1000 characters in our image description box, and now the limit is 25,000 characters. - Once we got the 25,000 characters, there was no formatting available. Do you remember when everything showed up in one long sentence? That's been fixed. - The question of e-bots has been answered. We're not getting them back in the foreseeable future. (I think that means never, but one can't be sure.) For a while they were saying, "let us know if you're not getting them and we'll work on it." Now we've got the Activity Feed and Notifications, and can stop worrying about whether or not we'll get e-bots again. Not the answer we were looking for, but it's an answer. - The statistics on your Profile page were incorrect. I believe two weeks ago I had something like 2,400 views and 9,700 favorites, indicating that a whole bunch of people had favorited my work without looking at it. That's been fixed. - Right after the switch, it took about 30 minutes for a new image to show up in your gallery. Now it takes about five minutes. The answer is, "Yes, it's slow, but it will show up eventually." Again ... not optimal, but at least we know it's the "new normal." - At first, any comments you left on someone's image showed up without your avatar, no matter what kind of avatar you have. Now the avatars show up on comments. - If you have albums, they were inaccessible at first. Now you can add to your albums and make new ones. There are still issues that need to be resolved, and I'm pretty sure they fixed the easy ones first, or the ones where the most people were complaining. If you're interested in any of these, go to the forum and add your voice! I think they're starting to think I'm the only one who is interested in getting these things fixed! Here's a list of some of the things I'm still working on: - All the album cover images are blank, and there doesn't appear to be a way to choose an album cover yet. - We've lost the ability to track quite a bit of information that some of us (a lot of us?) would like back. For example, how many images do you currently have in your gallery? When you look at a thumbnail, can you tell what time it was posted, and to what gallery and genre? And in Photography, the camera EXIF data is no longer displayed anywhere. - Our wonderful search function that we used to have has been hacked to bits and is no longer functional. It would be nice to have something similar to what we had before. We've got it for the forums, but not for the galleries. - The default for posting an image sends it to the 2D gallery as an abstract. If you look at the 2D gallery, you'll find all sorts of things in there now, simply because the artist didn't choose the gallery and genre they wanted. - Scrolling to the bottom of a gallery page, you'll see there are no page numbers, and we've got what's called "infinite scroll." If these are things you care about, and you want to improve your browsing and/or posting and/or viewing experience, speak up! The more people that voice their opinion, the better chance we have of getting results.

Well its about time she woke up! A very cool picture. It looks quite alien.

Power to the people! Death to the fascist insect that preys upon the life of the people! (Sorry about that. Your activism brings out the inner radical in me).

These flowers are so attractive and so insect friendly, that they are all round stars. I do like the little pink interdental brushes!

You have effected so many improvements, Tara, and we are all so grateful! I have been putting in my twopence worth occasionally but feel I am shouting into the storm. By the way, I do have page numbers now at the bottom of my gallery pages, (but not at the top too, which was very handy!)

I am still trying to get a refund for my years of overpaid Gallery Plus with little hope of success.

Like your pic Tara. I also like the way you have sorted a lot of the troubles on RR out. If it wasn't for you I would have been long gone.

A beautiful cluster of flowers. Thanks for all your work in getting things improved here, Tara. I'm just not feeling very motivated to become an activist right now...
