Description

Spined Micrathena I have never seen anything like this before! Found this pretty little "lady" hanging out in my yard today. Sorry the pic is a bit blurry. I had a really hard time zooming in on "her". Every time I zoomed in my camera would zoom right past her into the trees behind her... Thanx so much for any comments and advice. For anyone who likes this sort of pic, she looks really cool if you look at her in full size, I think you can see her eye..

I have experienced the same problem with focusing on a small spider while it is on it's web. I learned to manually focus on a solid object that was about the same distance away then point it at the spider and adjust my physical distance until I get it where I want it. I think this is one of the crablike spiny orb weaver spiders. I have seen them color before as well as red and black ones. Lee

Nice capture, getting the focus right is a bit of a trick. I have the focus of my SLR set for the exact center.
