Description

I am a God fearing, God loving person. What I do not fear is the old preacher man, the one so set in his way and his view that all of us would burn like crispy critters in hell. In the USA, in the "Bible Belt", plenty of these guys were around. They had the rules, handed directly to them by God it seemed.Somehow the rules were not the same. Somehow, they forgot mercy, grace and what the Bible says Jesus is all about...even in the bible belt states. That is an insult to the mercy and love of God. Does the God I know have anger? Yes. Is it weighed against mercy and grace? Yes. Both play a part and mercy is a huge part of it all. Sure, a reckoning will be but not like this guy envisioned. There is more to God than a legalistic old preacher man and his vision of what the end times will be. It took me a while to learn but I did. Yes, there will be a reckoning...including the preacher man and the modern televangelists who unlike the preacher man know only joy, wealth and prosperity...no wrath for those who send in their money, no wrath at all because that is not comfortable. I figure when the end is here, it is done...simple enough. Then you are at the mercy and in the mercy of God. No wonder I put this photo in the genre selected. Does the image look artificial? It well should. I do wish there had been a model for this photo, someone else than this one, even with the Photoshop™ distortion.

Wow...it's you and not you.... I live in the Bible belt and my friends and neighbors don't even know I do ART. Most would think it was a "sin".....I hate that, so just keep my ARTwork to myself for myself. :O)

This is phenomenal work. Wow. I can see what you've done, but ... wow. A most impressive way to make your point! It's like seeing Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde!

I didn't realize it was you at first, but well said Tom! He does look kind of scary and I have experienced a bit of the US 'Bible Belt' but we have it here in Alberta anywhere south of Red Deer. To me, the personification of the waste of this thinking is that it results in your first commenter (linwhite) thinking that she must hide her art or at least not promote it openly. So I say to her, "Lin, do your art, show your art, be proud of your art, and NEVER allow the religionists to tell you what to do!"

Love what you did with this capture my friend. I believe if you compared the love of the Lord and the anger of the Lord the Love of the Lord dominates because it is an Agape (unconditional) Love. God Bless.

Tom, this is so marvelous. Very creative and spectacularly postworked. I think I grew up with his twin. My small town in the south was home to at least half dozen like him within a 10 mile radius. I guess I always felt sorry for them because they seemed to live in a world of anger and fear.

Thank you Tom, for sharing this with us. I came here to congratulate you in connection with the weekly. But see here, how impressive. It has touched me very much. You may know, I suffer much to PTSD, the reason is that I'm brainwashed by my parents, that God is like a bad judge, who always looks for the things you do in his eyes not good enough. When in fact all is the other way round. God's love for us is such big, I guess we as human, have no idea how big ;-) God bless.
