Description

i just promised a friend i'd do some cool and realistic potion jars. have't had the time to create a true model and / or zbrush yet--but just goofing w/ shaders: i present a decent first pass at some thick glass. it'll need lots of detailing, weathering, and some surface texture/noise to look real, but i'm fairly happy w/ how to do all kinds of glass shaders at this point. oh ya, this uses the new light rig i'm planning to release as a product soon: there's only ONE light in this scene folks. thoughts?

I remember trying to make realistic glass in Lightwave in days gone by. :-) This looks like a nice WIP. Yeah, weathering would be a fantastic touch. Old glass is lovely. So much more interesting than brand new glass. All those chips and nicks have stories behind them. Anyhow, this reflects nicely and the colors are holding, with just the right touch of muting by the blue light. It'll be interesting to see what's at the end of the WIP!
