Description

Had planned to take the ferry from Whidbey Island to Port Townsend but decided against it. Would have saved a lot of time but didn't want to take the chance of getting my car dinged. It was an experience driving from Burlington down through Seattle and Tacoma. In the mid-60s the only thing we had to worry about was not to get caught in the shift- change traffic at Boeing using highway 99 between Seattle and Tacoma. Interstate 5 wasn't completed yet. Anyway I made it to Port Townsend, Olympic Peninsula, WA and it was time to get some raw oysters on a half shell, but no raw oysters that day so I settled for steamed clams. This picture was taken on 18 August 2015, Sig...

I always park against at least a curb if possible to avoid careless people. years ago I was managing a store until a replacement manger could be hired. anyway I parked my first brand new car in a spot so I could keep an eye on it. well, this older man pulled in and parked about 12 inches from my car.mind you no other cars in the parking lot. of course he seriously banged my car and when I called him on it, he said I did not do it . I told I was watching him when he did it. he said I am a preacher and do not tell lies. I asked so why have you started now?

great capture

@Richardphotos: Great story and I had similar experiences, that's why I wouldn't use the ferry and rather drove!

I wonder if you took the ferry up to Canada and maybe visited the Butchart Gardens there?? This is a lovely photo. Furthermore, I would be happy to settle for some steamed clams or yummy clam chowder...it must be getting close to lunch time. :)

@SunriseGirl: No! I did not take a ferry to Canada on this trip; I have taken a ferry in the past from Port Angeles to Victoria and back and also a ferry from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay!
