Description

We have a 14 foot (a little over 4 meter) high fichus hedge the surrounds our complex. There are all kinds of vines in there, including very pretty Morning Glories, and now we have a new vine next to our condo. The vine is just a bunch of green leaves but yesterday I found an orange seed pod. This morning the seed pod was open and it is full of red seeds. Not the best lighting so I went back this afternoon. The pod and seeds were gone – no trace of anything. My search found Orange Bitter Melon and Bitter Gourd Melon. The seed pod was about 2 inches (about 5 cm) long. So I will keep an eye out for more seed pods and try and catch a photo of the bright red seeds and maybe a melon in our future. We wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year! I have this on my home, we found it during a walk and we cut some pods and planted the red seeds. It covered all the patio wall, and then disappeared, but now is growing again by itself! Great capture Dana! Happy new year for you and your family!
