Description

Heeling as she zigs (or is it zags) The USS South Carolina, BB26 feels the might of the Atlantic Ocean in moderate swells. On convoy duty she and her sister USS Michigan, BB27 protect the lifleline to Europe in the "war to end all wars". Models done in Wings. The rest of the stuff is pure vue with some help from the "Sea View" collection. Note: a commentary on these great "beasts" They have for the most part departed this world for one found only in the memories of a few or in a few pictures, plans and art. It was a different world they born into. I try to model them as they were. They weren't pretty but they had a beauty all their own. Comment always welcome

Beautiful work. And those cage masts were unstable even in calm seas. Getting up into them one was exposed to the weather and the swinging and twisting. Crazy, but light weight construction. Yes, oldies, but goodies these ships were. The Sea View collection? Need to check that out. Great pic and excellent ocean texture. You can just envision the bow slamming into the waves, spray going everywhere. Those were massive brutes of ships.

I can really feel the roll of the swells, very well done ! I'm guessing the wire frame looking smoke stack things are actually part of the radar system ? Kool stuff & ~Cheers~
