Description

The desire for humans to fly like the birds is strong, this has lead to the creation of some amazing aircraft. When i was young one of the things i wanted to be when i grew up was a pilot. Well that never eventuated but i still sometimes imagine what it would be like to have views like this every day... The F18 is a free model from 3D Cafe, with the pilots and missiles added by myself. This model came with no textures so i created these using photos of f18 aircraft from the internet for reference. This took ages as maps for colour, bump, reflection and shine all had to be made scaled/wrapped using only vue and photoshop. The terrain texture is a procedural type with an effort made to create a realistic sense of scale. I really did try to make this as realistic as possible and i hope i succeeded. Of all the work i have done in vue so far, this is the one i am most proud of. I hope everyone else likes it too! I would appreciate any comments/feedback on this image. Special thanks to everyone who has looked/commented/voted on my previous works.

If this is not a photo of actual terrain that has been merely photoshopped with 'effects', then I would say you have succeeded in your efforts at realism. As a former Air Force Imagery Interpretation Specialist, I have seen my share. Take a bow.

When I looked first at the picture it actually made me feel dizzy (no joke) so good is the sense of distance. Looks extremly real. Great angle and textures! Wow!
