Description

The year 2018, and a couple of dated warships (the nearly retired RSS* Dependent and the newer RSS* Rendall Hardy) patrol the coast of Kansas on a two week sea patrol between their regularly scheduled four month session of rust repair and upgrading of malfunctioning equipment. It's been a couple of years since Rendall Hardy of the activist group The Hardy Party held the country at ransom with the threat of nuclear devastation unless government was reduced to near- 1776 levels, and a theist national policy enacted immediately. Rendall and his group had commandeered a nuclear arsenal in Idaho with the hopes of accomplishing their goal with a little "nuclear solution" of their own. It was only meant to appear as a threat with no real intent to follow through, but destiny has her own playbook. Success seemed at hand, until, with a patriotic cry of "Give me 1952 or give me death", Rendall ironically suffered an apoplectic stroke and fell on the activation button that caused a massive nuclear chain reaction that completely obliterated everything west of the state of Kansas. Everything accomplished since the doctrine of Manifest Destiny was undone in a nonce. Well, if Rendall and his group could survey the results of their bold plan, they might be a bit pleased in one way. Government was reduced drastically...nearly by half. But, as is the bureaucratic way, the newly formed Department of Eliminated Landmass Claims, was triple the size of the entire previous governmental apparatus in order to process claims resulting from the elimination of so much real property. There is also some talk of instituting an agency to look into the deaths of so many citizens. A filibuster is now in session on that item. * RSS- Remaining States Ship I was looking at Fireangel's nicely done dropship and decided that it would go well nottamun's USS Independence from sketchup warehouse. Things then spun quickly out of control and, well, there you have it. RSS Dependence: USS Independence...nottamun free at sketchup warehouse. RSS Rendall Hardy: CGN-42 USS Vanguard free by Asamo Corporation also at sketchup. Really nice dropship by fireangel here at rendo. Tractor: free at Schell's Armour Works schells.ca Crew various alpha recruits conscripted down in the lab. C4d xl ce+, poser8, Vue6Infinite, PS Cs3

Nice, good reflections on the water, but the rectangular engine nacelles on the planes wingtips don't fit reality, jet engines are round.

Well first off great image, a bit different but I love it......your recounting of events is spellbinding, the idea of a Department of Eliminated Landmass Claims is inspired. I love the word ' filibuster ', we don't use it over here, we just say 50 years of pointless, protracted waffle :-)

Very nice picture... But I can't help, for me these new hull shapes are ugly. I hope they invent more beautiful stealth ship hulls... ;-)

A great scene and I loved your story! I bet lots of folks in Kansas would love some seafront property. I know folks in Arizona would.
