Wolves don't howl with looks like that. That is a "KILL THE PREY" look. A howl is more head thrown back, mouth round, and eyes almost closed in the moment of the howl. I've howled with the wolves before,a long time ago, up north in Macinac Park in Michigan. The moment is one with eternity, with the wolves concentrating on the howl, as if to shake the pillars of heaven loose. It's a great picture, but those are not howling wolves.

Joel, if you read carefully you'll realize I never said the animals were howling. I didnt even say they were wolves - they are thylacines, and if they ever howled, they dont anymore as they are extinct. Nora wishes them to howl for her, that's all I said. Howling is impossible for her, and just as unlikely the extinct animals will do it for her. In all likelihood her own un-howling from the inside and the un-howling creatures from the outside will consume her alive.

A very interesting image. With few elements but a lot to look at. The thing that first striked me was the sharp contrast between her body language and the ones of the animals. Then I noticed the richness of the ground/wall material. The composition is also very interesting, with a negative space on the lower left to draw the eye into the scene, making this a more intimate situation. Her outfit is also very nice. The whole scene is very colorful and although the situation itself seems as out of a dream, the color scheme and lighting says otherwise. Very good. The poem and the image form a perfect pair. (IMO, the bump on the animals is too strong and/or too thick. Maybe you should have made it thinner and/or turn it into displacement.)

Perhaps what I like the most of this image is its painting quality; looks to me like a vivid oil painting. And I think its strength as an image resides basically on that. That´s why I wouldn´t touch a thing regarding textures and materials. There are two other aspects I like a lot: lighting and composition. I couldn´t think of a better way to put them at the service of the idea. But I´ll always feel a bit sad regarding Nora. Why does she have to ask these creatures to howl for her? Why doesn´t she howl for herself? Wouldn´t it be that she has accustomed to be encapsulated and restrained? After all, she might be thinking, nobody gets hurts this way.

Very Nice work on this and I will not get technical, because I like it!!!

first i want to say that it was obvious that the animals were thylacine. that was actually my immediate reaction (they're not a common creature), even though i know pretty much nothing about them. second, the distinction between the internal dialogue and external events was obvious to me in both the poem and the image. they didn't occur to me as contradictory. is there any relation to the poem by Alan Ginsberg? my roommate in college studied it and Kaddish, and this makes me think of an inverse of that outpouring of emotion. the lighting fits the constricting nighttime setting, and the tas tigers seem ready to tear her to bits. a very internal and symbolic piece, striking in its simplicity. and i have a thing for complexity through textured (in the traditional sense) surfaces. her clothes are interesting because they do look binding, if colorful and chaotic.
