Description

NGC 7000, the North American Nebula can be found in the Constellation Cygnus, near the bright star Deneb. If you could see it with the naked eye, it would appear 4 times larger than the full moon. The nebula's namesake should be obvious. Also, just to the right, lies a portion of the Pelican Nebula. Imaged from my remote observatory in Mayhill, New Mexico with a Takahashi FSQ-106 telescope and an FLI 16803 CCD camera. Narrowband filters in Sulfur II, Hydrogen Alpha, and Oxygen III wavelengths were used and mapped to red, green, and blue, respectively. Exposure time for each was 10 minutes x 12 exposures, for a total of 360 minutes.
