Wow .. this was a very tough decision as to what to put up at Renderosity right before the new year!
Here it is .. simply a photo.(With minor post work to highlight the shoes) I was shooting a commission at a local company last August, and saw these shoes on the power lines. (During a big storm) Local folklore is.. When someone has to move to a new school, their friends steal their shoes, and throw them up to the sky...hoping to catch on the lines. Which happened here.
The meaning: the friend who has moved, has to re visit his or her friends , and jump to get their shoes back lol!!
Seemed perfect for 2007 .. Happy New Year!!

Oh yes! Perfect! I feel the sense of the old moving into the past, while the future is brightly lit on the horizon. Really spectacular shot of the sunlight on the clouds, contrasting with the dark cloudy sky above. Wonderful Kurt! Happy New Year to you too! Hugs x:)

Boy, I like what it means there better than what it is supposed to mean here. Here it is supposed to be a gang mark on a rival who is going to get hit next. That is, a warning to someone. But when I was young, many, many years ago, when you saw shoes hanging from power lines, you knew some kid was walking around with bare feet and a blistered butt. Bare feet because the neighborhood bully obviously caught up with him and a blistered butt when he had to go home and explain to his mom and dad why his shoes were missing and that they had to go out and buy him a new pair! LOL Great shot. I really like the feel of it.

Wow!! Well, I hope the best for those who have lost their shoes! I would have never thought a Gang related thing. Never .. So perhaps some folklore is more positive I hope .. I'd like to hear!

they do it here but I believe because they are stupid and do not appreciate their parents hard work to keep the rats in clothes. at the cost of the shoes that teenagers want it is ludicrous to waste the shoes. I wish you and family a wonderful new year
