Description

The turquoise is a nice grade nugget from Nevada. If there, I would like Tabasco with my pot of beans. A single primary light source produces images of high and dramatic contrast, low key with details hiding in the dominant shadows, high key with white dominant to the subject and even neat little shots like this one. I wondered if using a single primary light would allow a clean image without too much drama. In this case, the items are reasonably small (the turquoise nugget is about 2 inches across) and the small intense light lit the subjects well and clearly. The shadow gives some idea of the angle of the light. I hoped the background material would reflect enough light to even the exposure. Of course, in daytime we see and photograph using a single primary light, the sun. Blue Broccoli? I like Tabasco on broccoli and beans :) Kidding aside, it's a very good photo and nice explanation of the technique.

I love photographs that are essentially the photographer either learning something or attempting to learn something, or just seeing how something might or might not work! This is a perfect example of that and I love the contrast between the jar of Tabasco sauce and the lump of turquoise. The colors really pop in this, and I like that quite a lot.

It look's like both are having a cuddle. The shadow look's terrific and i love the colour of the nugget.
