Description

Got myself a Tamron 500mm f/8 mirror lens. Some hate those lenses, but I love it. Had one in the 80s and I wanted one again. Went to ebay and bought one for a nice price. Made a video to show you what you can do with this lens. SEE VIDEO of me testing the 500mm CLICK HERE

I was very interested in seeing your video of the mirror lens. I am a retired professional photographer and always entertained a fascination to buy one of those lenses. I never did because of the so-called donut holes produced by the mirror bouncing light around inside the lens. Your video was excellent, lots of varied subjects testing the lens capability. I was impressed with the sharpness, but I did see a donut hole from 3:58 to 4:03, and wonder if you saw it too. Regardless, the lens is worth having and maybe I should have bought one, too. I noticed you have a Nikon 5300 camera. I have the Nikon 3300 camera, really just about the same camera, but yours has the swing out viewing screen, mine does not. Tamron lenses are made in China now, but they are really good. I have a Tamron 18-200mm zoom lnes for my Nikon and can give some pretty impressive pictures. I'm happy with it, too.Best of luck with your lens and may every picture be a blue ribbon winner.

Looks like a great lens. The video was sharp and clear with great color fidelity.

Hi Rod. Got the Tamron 500mm for $120.- at ebay. Its a strange lens, but I knew that, because I had a Nikkor 500mm f/8 years ago. Ordered a Feelworld F5.5 monitor with focus peeking which makes focusing much easier. Its fun.
