Captured back on 10/6/07 in my condominium complex.
What greets you as you approach to knock on the door. Its eyes manipulated for effect.
Something they may have brought with them from the Philippine Islands.

There was a Chinese restaurant at the local mall that had a pair of these lions outside for the longest time. I hope they survived somewhere after the restaurant went out of business.

These were originally meant to scare evil spirits away from temples - I can see why... LOL My mom had a couple of these for years. My dad was stationed at the Air Force base in Okinawa, Japan, and we lived there for a year, which is where my mom got them.

Yeah I love the glowing eyes too. (Helle's currently laboring in her garden, and I assume going to sleep with major pains everywhere. These would look great in her garden.) You got the lion's fierce stare head-on, and a kind of glow throughout it, beyond the eerie yellow that you added to its eyes. And I love the geometrics of the window mullions behind, the two or three blank walls, and those great slippers and whatever else that is. If this beast is supposed to have Presence, those slippers pretty much say "be a good boy, go out and play!" Love the juxtaposition. Fine shot of this ancient spirit-chaser. (Rod's right.) It's filled with ancient Chinese motifs, which were carted all over East Asia. No surprise this could wind up in the Philippines...
