Description
With the sun in my eyes and reflecting off the water in morning light out at the lake yesterday, I spied out of the corner of my eye a bird in flight and raised my camera to quickly get off a dozen shots.
At first I thought it was a hawk, perhaps a red tail. Then I noticed its size and color markings and said "What the What?! That's no hawk, it looks like an Osprey!"
From the Texas A&M University website:
"Ospreys migrate to and through Texas from mid-March to late May and early September to mid-November, when they are uncommon to rare. In winter they are most common along the Gulf Coast of Texas."
I saw some Osprey when I was on the Gulf but they were always too far away for a photo. In my 4 decades living in North Texas, this is my first sighting of a migratory Osprey.
One shot is the original, the other 3 I dropped into the image to make a composite of its flight.
