Description

I was very lucky to spot this guy (or gal) on the driveway the other day, almost perfectly disguised. I suspect my neighbours wondered what I was doing lying on my belly pointing the camera at nothing... but then they are used to my eccentricities! Better zoomed. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend. ~Steve~

Perhaps your neighbours think you have a hopper full of them Steve. A great result from your efforts.

Boom! Boom! Actually I've never seen one of these before, so it was a double first :)

They don't call us camera nuts for no good reason. Shutter bug was another term that seems appropriate here - although this is obviuosly not technically a bug. You got the best angle possible for complete focus and detial. I am a bit surprised at the shallow depth of field at f 8 but I guess that comes from telephoto and macro lens.

Hi Roxy, I was at minimum focal distance here (less than 30 cm) so at 100mm, F8 DOF is very shallow - I'd guess about 3mm. If I had had longer I might have gone up a few stops but he / she hopped off after this one - probably scared of his / her reflection!! Cheers, Steve

LOL, just found a DOF calculator online and the DOF was 2.6mm, so 3mm wasn't a bad guess!!!

I'm certain that if I were lying on the ground photographing something it wouldn't be the police but the paramedics that showed up! Your bravery and dedication show well in this superb capture!

Impressive shot! Great details. We have about 14 trillion of them in TX right now. They're all over the place. Excellent macro.
