Description

Today I would like to start a series of shots I took in Maulbronn Monastery, a wonderful place I had the chance to see again on my short trip to Germany in the end of march, when I visited some old friends of my father. Maulbronn Monastery lies in the southern part of Germany west of Stuttgart. "Maulbronn Monastery, founded in 1147, is an impressive document of the Cistercian culture and the best-preserved monastery complex north of the Alps. In the Middle Ages it was an important political, economic and social center. Following the onset of the Reformation, the monastery was converted into a Protestant monastery school (1556). The Protestant theological seminary founded in 1807 still exists today." (http://www.kloster-maulbronn.de/en/267925.html) My first shot shows the western side of the monastery with outer walls of the lay dining room, the cellar storeroom and the church. Hope you will like this series and thanks a lot for your comments on my last upload...smile
