On a computer from the electronic waste container I found the Fractal extreme and played something with it. I particularly liked the Mandelbrot set with the beautiful structures on the edge. That's why I made my first fractal image as a complete view. I wonder, what is the Mandelbrot set and who designed it?

The Mandelbrot set was not designed by anyone. From a fairly simple calculation with complex numbers, the Mandelbrot set is the set of those numbers for which, when you repeat the calculation over and over again, the result does not go to infinity. That it has such a complex structure is something that is very mystifying and which has puzzled mathematicians for a very long time. Benoit Mandelbrot was somewhat obsessed with fractals, and it is fitting that this very special one has his name.
