Description

Ultrafractal 4.03 Ok, I know I was talking about more colors in my last post but...lol I've had this one stewing since last year and finally decided it would pass muster and so here 'tis. (And I got tired of hearing it banging on the side of its folder wanting out for so long! lol) I sorta gussied it up with a "matte" and drop shadow because it's so dark. I tried to give a vibe of the love between a couple that lasts as long as they live. The dried, gnarly (the appearance kind, not the ufm/ucl! lol) high school prom flowers pressed into the pages of an old yearbook. Aaahh - but though the fierce flames of passion may have ebbed and withered a bit, the embers in the center still glow with warmth. May they never go out... (Or, maybe you might think this is a flower that Gomez Addams might give to Morticia? Men! We always have to ruin the moment! Mushy stuff, yuck! lol) Thanks for stopping by and for your encouragement and friendship for so many years! Rick ***(Fine art giclee' prints of most of my work are available in limited edition on archival paper or canvas - e-mail: drahcir3@hotmail.com and get busy filling that empty spot on the wall!*** :-)

To me it looks like a plant life that is surviving off the remains of a gnarly old tree stump, giving meaning and beauty back to the tree! Love this one!!

Fantastic fractal. It has a wonderful 3D look to it, gnarly like you say. Beautifully framed as well. Thank you for sharing!

Your interpretation of your image definitely influenced how I view it. I see what you mean. Yes, the brightness of new love gradually mellows, but the love remains strong. Thanks for sharing. It is very beautiful.

It's no bad thing when a picture makes you think, when understanding seemingly lies just beyond your grasp. I like the natural feel, the sense of depth, the mystery, and all helped by the subdued use of colour. I like, yet am somehow disturbed. I'd fight harder for understanding if I thought you were entirely happy with the result but you suggest a continuance of doubts. Maybe it is too big for me - I'd like that, for the best pictures say more than can be easily grasped - and this is either already very good or has immense potential.

Love this image and the idea you had behind it. The texturing, colouring around the outside of the flower is suggestive of bark. The flower creates a wonderful focal point that is not too strong and in good contrast with the rest of the composition. Wonderful detail and an overall fascinating composition. Well done. Hope you print this one.

It's absolutely a beautiful piece of art, Rick, with gorgeous textures. However, to me it feels kind of sad, like the colours (or lack of) seem to suggest one of the lovers has already passed away, and the love is still burning in the one that stayed behind. Just an interpretation... ^_^
