Description

This bridge in Bakewell, East Midlands, UK was covered in these padlocks. Apparently couples place them at sites like this as tokens of their love and throw the keys into the river. Please zoom to have a better view and to see the background.

Given the habit of well-meaning patrolmen/women, I'm very surprised to see that the lock have not been removed Wonderful capture

It certainly is a beautiful setting for it. The Pont des Arts in Paris has been a focus for this type of activity to the point where the weight of the locks has collapsed part of the bridge railing. The authorities have placed plywood boards over most of the railings to stop it.

What a special idea with which throwing away the key to love, haha! Forever chained together, or linked? I suspect the latter. At first I thought you had this photo taken from a boat, but the view is fabulous and unique. What is England still stunning and photogenic country. An up your alley, huh friend Jeff?

I saw a story on tv about the locks on the Paris bridge. But I had no idea that this was being done on other bridges. Well found and taken, Jeff!

Great find and capture my friend. Lol could those two trees be locked in love right in the middle in the background and that grass be a heart of love just at the bottom of the two trees in the background. God bless.

It seems you are visiting all of my old childhood haunts we used to catch a train into Derbyshire walk back two or three stations have a picnic along the way and catch a train home, then Mr Beeching came along and spoilt things.

I was at Bakewell many many years back, but this wasn't happening then. Still a lovely area, I see!

A lovely background and there is a bridge in Paris that does the same thing. I read recently that the city of Paris has begun cutting them off!

Thought it romantic until the keys going into the river part. Metals are devastating to most aquatic life. Nice location and image!

Ah yes, very sightly.. Just like the one in Paris I read about that collapsed under the weight, now they are banning them.. The view would have (well is) lovely, sound of river is very restful. Rob
