Description

I went to Houston with friends this weekend to attend a Ricky Tims quilt seminar, and had a terrific time! After the last class was over, we relaxed at a table by the outdoor pool at our hotel and talked about what we had learned. Several people had wine, and I couldn't resist a couple of light and glass shots. The only thing I had them change was the removal of a plastic water bottle. Of course I did more in Photoshop, but the composition was already there. It's warm in Houston at this time of year, by the way. We weren't sitting around freezing! I think it was in the high 70s, even at 8:00 in the evening.

Wonderful reflection/refraction/transparency - it all flows very harmoniously & has the compositional strength of an original painting...

OH! You must have had a wonderful time outside in a chair without freezing your nose off. I love that shot and what you did with it. Seeing it smaller made it even better, because I saw it in a whole. The colors are so beautiful together. Exactly that color composition is one of my favs. :)

What marvellous flow, as result you became by your photoshopping, dear friend. I love how one can see that label reflecting in the glass, as the light is uplifting all on your photograph, Tara.

A very fine composition of bottles and glasses. With interactions, cutting one another off; and with transparency, so they can be seen through each other, etc. Without your postwork, it's a really fine "architectural" capture of tall glasses and bottles. Your postwork brings out a wholly different aspect---instead of the tall sheer forms, it brings out the sensual blurbs and blobs, and the way they soften the sheerness. It's almost goopy, with your postwork, which is very different from the sheer composition. And it all works together beautifully. It's almost painterly, but the composition is pure photography. A very fine shot and postwork. I'm glad the trip was wonderful despite the fatigue of doing it all in such a cramped time. We'll talk about it soon...
