A Bare-throated Tiger-heron makes a breakfast run.
This tiger is found in Central and South America from Mexico to northwestern Colombia. It prefers in more open habitats than other Tigrisoma herons, such as river banks and lake edges. Its flight is heavy and labored. The call is a hoarse ‘howk-howk-howk’. Males also give a booming ‘hrrrowwr!’ call, especially at sunset. It hunts small fish, frogs and crayfish. It usually stands motionless in the water and waits from its’ prey, striking quickly.
