Description
This portrait was an assignment for week 3 of the Figure painting workshop. I painted it with french singer Olivia Ruiz in background - in particular, one of her songs 'La fille du vent' (Daughter of the Wind) was very inspirational.
As with other assignments from the workshop, this was painted in about 4 hours, with Painter and a reference photograph on the side.
This was my first attempt at direct color painting (as opposed to starting with a black and white picture to get the values first and lay out colors on tiop of that).

I'm intrigued by your mention of a workshop. Was this done in an actual studio or classroom? The compressed timescale suggests this is so. The face is very well done, and the hair nicely understated. I'm not too sure about the "mark" on the centre of her lip. It may be truthful but detracts from her beauty.
