Description

This image is hopefully the first in a series 'Book of Dreams'. (I also have a 'Book of Prophesies' in the pipeline...) The content of this image evolved from a chapter in the book 'The same sea' by Amos Oz.(There is a very good english translation, I highly recommend it). It is summarized in the quote 'When there is love it is different, but how do you explain butterflies to a tortoise' It is all about the struggle between flying/floating and being stuck on or in the ground. This is Kira's second appearance. The link to her previous one: thumb_1549488.jpg Technical info: Some of the room and its content from 'Home one' Lush Grass by Linda Daireaux Noggin's butterflies Skirt and blouse - free stuff by svdl Front picture - 'Flying colors', silk painting by me. Back picture - butterfly collection from the net. Posing and cloth simulation of the nightgown, clothes and sheet were done in Poser, the rest in Vue. (Apologies to Vue experts for any technical blemishes, I'm learning as fast as I can :) ) Please comment - let me know what you feel/think, what you like or dislike...Thanks.

Looks sort of like a Lunesta commercial. LOLOLOL First thought--second thought, looks very creepy like out of a horror movie. It's really well done, but after reading the description the pic misses the mark in my heart's emotions. It just seems subtly terrifying as compared to romantic. Love IS sort of frightening... but not like this. Maybe it has to do with the position of the bugs, or the lighting, or a combination of both. Maybe number of them, too. More like an army or infestation than a romantic notion? It's really REALLY well done and the lighting is VERY dramatic. It just affects me in ways unintended by the artist. ^__^

For me, this is a magic image. I understand Joel's view and it could be indeed a second view for me. But this contrast of emotions just enhances the beauty of it. This image can be simultaneously seen as a "bug invasion" and as a dream of beauty and freedom, wonderfully interpreted by butterflies. These two simultaneous but antagonic interpretations produce in the viewer a special emotion. Thank you for sharing it. As to Vue technical issues, you're learning fast. :-)

Wow. Gorgeous and lush colors, and I really like the perspective. I think that the butterflys look a bit too opaque when they are near the lamp -- my recollection is that their wings are sufficiently translucent that you can see some glow when they are backlit. I like the use of the painting of the butterfly on the wall as a unifying technique.

This is an extraordinary image; an image that adheres to the memory and that you can travel dozens of times. There is a lot of art in this image; a lot of deployed intelligence and sensibility. I can see love in every single detail. In the placidness of the feminine figure, in the way she is grabbing her sheets, in the way that the butterflies are flooding her world. Which dream are we looking? Kyra´s dream? That of the butterflies? Or that of the artist? Apart from this. Which is the image of love? Which is the image of terror? Why will it be that we are about escaping from clichés and, simultaneously, always attached to them? But, as the quote says: how do you explain butterflies to a tortoise?

This is a fantastic scene on many levels - the skill, artistic talent involved in creating it is obvious. In responding to the issue of "the horror of butterflies", maybe less could be more in this sense. Looking at the picture on the wall I derive the impresssion that she "possess the butterflies" because they represent her interest/dream/imagination, however that I think that idea might get lost (a counter to that is that art doesn't have to hit you in the face). Maybe a simple pattern or butterflies without the swarm would carry the theme better. A butterfly coming out of the picture. I would certainly not put in a "vampire butterfly". However, this is done so well...thank you.
