Description

Just a bit of playing with Poser, and some Photoshop techniques. The background is one of the photos I took the other day after flying the Inspire. I wanted to play with putting a figure into a scene with very flat, even lighting. I find it actually more difficult to get a composite looking right in this type of light than on a sunny day with distinct shadows. Thin, high-altitude clouds as there were on this day, act like a giant gobo or softbox in the sky. They diffuse and scatter the sunlight so there are few - if any - distinct shadows. Colors are somewhat muted, and tend to be more pastel. Lighting a figure in Poser to match this environment can be a bit challenging. I used two infinite lights to light Kelsey - a warm-ish light from the front left at about a 45-degree angle (elevation), and a cooler light to Kelsey's left (right as facing the scene). The flower she's holding was cut from another photo I took at the same time, and placed in her hand in Photoshop. I'm not entirely satisfied, with it, but I guess it's not too bad... Now, back to getting caught up on comments, and working on the next page in the story! Kelsey's dress is by Emma & Jordi - not in RMP any longer. Thanks for dropping by, and for all your awesome comments and support! *** UPDATE *** I just got an email from Mike (Faemike55). He's been unable to connect with Renderosity for several days - keeps getting timeouts. Don't know the reason, but I'm speculating it's some kind of trunk issue between the Pacific NW and the midwest. There was a similar situation about a year or so ago with extremely slow downloads from the RMP. After about 3 weeks, it mysteriously cleared up. Hopefully this will be resolved soon, and Mike will be back with us. He just wants everyone to know he's OK.

Well actually.. this is pretty good to me... I'd think it would be easier considering that you don't have much shadows to match up! but I don't know much about this... you could have also placed someone flying around in the back ground... no just kidding!! awesome work!... can't wait for the next page in the TNA story!!

Excellent work! Lighting is always a challenge for me whether it is too much or not enough. You did a great job of blending her into the photo and putting the flower in her hand.

it is not a surprise to me considering the amount of data your nsa is sucking out of the net,and then we have these slit-eyed cybercriminals everywhere and so on,and in europe IS is hacking into newspaper sites ...........i see a bright future ahead lol.!!!! -thats is what comes out with the red pink glasees and the overall liberal political correct bullshit .a few good slaps into the stupid face while young would help getting these subjects back in line to start with. but gawd no we have to protect our kids even if we see them becoming psychos,we rather hide them in the cellar than letting the neighbours know we raised a sicko, until the fecal matter hits the airmoving device.

I think you're right, much harder to match soft ambient light than hard, direction sunlight. You did a great job with Kelsey. Her foot fall seems extremely natural as well -- usually the achilles heel (pun intended) of 3D/2D character composites.

Render looks fine Rod, Kelsey looks a real delight strolling in the country there.. Fine work. Further to you update : My comments and e-bots have dropped right off the scale lately.. Last post has 5 so far (normally get at least 15).. At last half the people I used to get e-bots from I now don't.. I'm sure they have not all suddenly left or gone away on mass.. Is something up at Rendo? Rob
