Description

This is Kädrinduld, a hold in the Norvid Belt. The Longhouse there is the seat of power in the region. There are no towns or villages, as the country is comprised of scattered farms. There are craftsmen too of coarse, and sometimes they—especially the iron and weapon smiths—will be located close to a longhouse, but not close enough to comprise a village. This longhouse is Hill Hall. It is the seat of the Chieftain Eod, son of Láthwid. The stone megaliths at the foot of the hill were there long before the tribes settled the region. They do not know who built them or why, but that ring of stones there is used when large moots are called, and men from regions far and wide attend. Those small buildings too are really hovels, meant to house warriors when attending a moot. The Lairds, Chieftains, and even Thanes of coarse would stay in the longhouse with Eod. Kädrinduld is the hold that my main character is a part of. He lives with his father, as a farmer, and of coarse all men, from boyhood learn the sword and axe. The long cliff or “mountains” behind the hall is an escarpment that stretches the length of the country, from east to west. Atop it is tundra that stretches for miles. It is home to a semi nomadic people that follow herds of great horn deer. Some have settled near the south stretch of their country, along the escarpment. In harsh winters, they often come down the escarpment and raid the farms in the Norvid belt, stealing salted meats, mead, bread, whatever they can. In some cases, if the pass down from the escarpment is easy enough to ascend, they nomads will steal livestock as well. Which is why the all boys learn the sword from a young age. The Norvid Belt is a rainy country, often overcast and gloomy. It is mainly rocky moors and hills sloping south from the escarpment to the Norvid Forest along the south, before coming out into the Fens in my last render. East and West are mountain ranges, home to a quiet hill people that trade with the farmers. To the North of the tundra a frozen shore, freezing channel, and a glacier north of that. Anyways, the small buildings are kind of crappy, and aren't good in close up renders. Neither is the Longhouse actually. I did make one with actual shingles, but I didn't put enough detail into it for close up renders. I should though. I like how it came out, but I think I may make a detailed one with an interior. Who knows. Still finishing up my Austrian Pines. Heh. Thanks for looking, and kudos if you read all that. Cheers Swidhelm

Good as usual, but dude, that's "of course" not "of coarse". Of course I try to be polite, but at the third time I started getting the yips.
