You might spot me at Kirra Beach, the South-Eastern end of the Gold Coast, Australia,  if you like beach walking like myself... but there is more ! My son Jeff (*jif3d*, here at Rendo, it helps to advertise, ooops)... he took this pic of me in 2000, then manipulated it in photo-shop and it's still one of my favourites. Just very briefly about my past... *born in East Prussia; *grew up in Berlin, West Germany; *migrated to "OZ" in 1960, (not the Wizard of Oz) but...AUSTRALIA ! I guess  I was more into '2D' since early childhood, and thinking that my son Jeff may have inherited some of my artistic skills, because he translated them into '3D'. I am hooked on photography, since I discovered cameras... that's it in a nutshell. BTW - one of my fav.quotes.... ** I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure - which is trying to please everybody !**                                              that's a wrap... Cheers Brigitte.

What a sweet little thing. I saw his/her little cousins in Indonesia. About 8cm long. Nice pair of images. Very considerate of it to pose for you.

Holy cow - that sucker is HUGE! It's a leaf insect - completely harmless. This is apparently a female as she has tiny, non-functional wings. What an awesome pair of photos of this beauty!! Leaf Insects

How wonderful! I once had four Australian stick insects, and they were called Evo, Joy, Pritt and Joss. They were hatched and raised by a local insect fancier and the big female, Joy, laid eggs which I managed to hatch. It was hard to maintain the correct humidity, and I could never get the youngsters past the second instar ( moult) . It is very exciting to realise that in their home country they get so big! If I had been more successful I should have needed to buy a much larger insect house!

At first I thoought this was a joke made from pieces of vegetation...but no...it is alive! I had no idea they grew so large. Fantastic shots! I would freak out if I opened my eyes and saw this, LOL!

I thought the same as Wayne ... that this was really a piece of a Christmas cactus or something. But no! It's a real insect! That's totally cool. Its left "arm" looks like it ends in a snake's head. What a trippy creature!!

Fab shots Brigitte. I would love to see these in the UK but our climate would not sustain them.

Great! You meet a beautiful specimen of that leaf insect! They don't live in my country, I saw one held in captivity by a neighbour of mine... He worked in a University laboratory of biology... So glad you can take such good photos of the subject... they are fantastic creatures...

second scariest thing I ever woke up to was a bat flying around my bedroom (don't worry, I soft captured it and let it go free into the morning air) the first scariest thing was.... oh wait... never mind... you're too young... as to your injuries... be careful, we have a limited warranty on our bods...and replacement parts is sooo hard to come by... and most of all... isn't it spring down there now... time to prep for summer fun, not limping to the oldies.. take care of yeself...

What a huge lady! She would give me pause. Oh, my interest would be piqued and I would be in search of my camera too, but my initial reaction would probably be undignified and a little shrill. She's remarkable. She looks like she's made of paper and her tail looks like an open mouth ready to bite. Excellent capture. Wonderful detail.

Oh dear , I hope it not as big as it seems, , they are my pet hate,
