Description

You might think that 'wishful thinking' is a waste of time, but I wouldn't agree. This poem could have found its way into the BARRIERS collection, but it has its own special meaning, which has not changed since I first wrote it. I I posted it today following the delightfully unexpected response to yesterday's post. JUST A WHILE I wish you here beside me for a while, just a while here high beneath a sunset sky cragged and caged in tumbling rocks while deep below the surge of the sea scintillates and sings with rubies, amber, and garnets all in a glint and glow Yes, I wish you here beside me when the dip of the sun plays hide and seek dizzy in the highlights of your hair spread tickling snug across my shoulders and your warm soft breath soothes my skin and stirs my soul And I wish you here beside me Where the shift of sand seeps between bare and tingling toes along the languid liquid line 'twixt sea and shadowed shore Oh I wish you here beside me in this arms-and-waist-laced stroll when [in this dream] you stub your toe: an intake of breath and "Kiss it better" "Well ... I'll start there," I reply and the hint-glint in my wild and wicked eye turns your girlish grimace to giggles and the sensual promise of a sultry night I wish you here beside me once in a while, just once in a while while my free-born spirit mounts white horses to the soaring surf of distant shores an ocean's breadth away, and dream as I ride that far-flung tide in just a little reverie for just a little while ...

Some memories are more than fleeting. I find this uplifting and sad at the same time. Memories draw the mind, and the heart back to happier days. Free-born spirits can't, or won't stay earthbound forever. Memory calls, and the heart will answer. By the way, I almost forgot, I really like this image! That is you in the image isn't it? Lea

For just a little while~~~~you make my thoughts and dreams seem far more real when you write words like these, and now I can go on knowing I'm not the only one. The image is just as wonderful, thank you again!

Wishful thinking is a fine pursuit, especially when poetry like this is the result! Beautifully done.

Sometimes you have to doubt the doubts of a parent and suspect the suspicions of the other. Wishes can lead to taking opportunities and options that are only games that loop back.

It did the same thing to me this time. I can go and visit once in a while, but it is true. One can look back, but never go back. Just to feel it again. Once in a while.
