Gentle, loving, at once Guardian and Lover, Heroine and Maiden in distress. She surrounds you and your world with love.
And what does your Goddess ask of you? Sacrifice to her your egotism, your selfishness, your self-centredness, your overweening pride and greed; look after each other and after this Earth, the creatures, the trees, flowers, plants, waters; to husband its resources, do not dominate, exploit and destroy them.
Don't just sing hymns of praise to me and recite and repeat prayers to glorify me. I do not appreciate the mindless repetition of chant or chorus. Do not tell your Goddess she is beautiful. She knows she is beautiful. I know if your love for me is but spoken, or if it comes from deep within you. Are your rituals blocking your prayers? Are you singing too loud to hear me? And let it be your thoughts that fly up to me, not hollow words
Listen to me and not to those silly, petty little men who would set themselves above you and glorify themselves as priests in the temples they say I had them build for me, as experts in the rites they ascribe to me, but which they themselves have invented for their own glorification; beware them, for they will have their Goddess speak as they will, so that they shall have power. What goddess approves of war? What mother approves her children growing up to be destroyed? Beware the religion makers, beware the interpreters of gods; beware the holier-than-thou, who insist they know what is good for you. Such men invent heretics. How lonely is the man whose gods have deserted him. And you who so long for a heaven - will you leave your life so easily? If Heaven is so worth having then create it here on Earth, now; make your Earth into the Heaven you desire, for yourselves and for everyone else. For all you know there may be nothing for you when your body dies. And your beliefs will not stop you aging and dying, will they?
Are there poisonous snakes in the world? Are there bears, great cats, wild dogs? You do not know why they are in the world, do you? Perhaps the Goddess has a reason for them to be sharing your world; can you read the mind of the Goddess, interpret her wishes? No. The mind of man is too small to grasp her thoughts. But they are not here to provide sport for you, and you were not put into the world to go round killing them.
I am here to make you think; not to grant wishes. You want me to accept you as you are? Faults and all? Why? So that you can sit back and remain as bad as you are? I want you to improve - not apologise for making no effort to be better - I want you to strive to be better, finer, nobler. I am no genie of lamp or ring. If you want advice all you have to do is listen. Are you good at listening? You may hear things you do not want to hear.
Do you want a pat on the back for being good? for doing what you should? You know quite well when you are being good or bad. Confession is no use without regret, and pointless if you think that having confessed you can go right out and do the same thing again. Ask your victim, not your god, to forgive you. And then go and do not hurt anyone again. I do not grant wishes, nor wave a magic wand and those who idly wait for the world to help them and will not raise a finger for themselves, those people will sit and wait and listen in vain until the day that they realise their future and their fortune is entirely in their own hands.
There is plenty for allin this world. Be fruitful and multiply and share. Do not take more than you need; make sure everyone around you has enough to eat and drink, a place to live, work and sleep. And remember, when you look around you, at the problems mankind has to suffer, remember that the mess you are in is caused not by any manifestation of some mysterious almighty plan but is a direct consequence of your own activities.
I do not ask for adoration. If there is anything I want more than anything else it is kindness; not kindness towards me, but kindness among humans towards other humans and all the creatures of this world..
