Description

Back on track to my beloved Halloween. I've waited all year for this. More from my once hidden and/or neglected fun and imaginative period of Bryce and Poser work - my anything goes salad days from 2002 through 2006 - now on display. This was not another just-fooling-around exercise in the world of the macabre, and took a lot of thought. Created 5/31/04. Sorry, I don't have the info on the originator of this lovely hybrid. This kind of reminds me of that old scifi movie classic , The Fly, where the scientist accidentally transforms himself into a creature with his human head attached to the body of an ordinary housefly. Ta ta.

Terrific. When I first saw the thumbnail for this (some days back), I thought it was a display in a toy store. But when I saw the pic (and zoomed the 2 steps), I realized it was one of your creations. Then I read your description, and of course it was from your multi media series. (You have a LOT of those! They just keep on coming, like your Renaissance Faire pieces---only these were done over a lot longer time. I'm glad there are so many, they're been a sheer delight, Harry.)

Love the concept, the clarity of the lips and eyes, and the bold colors once again: The luminous green and purplish blues (of the eyes and lips, respectively). And the deep reds of the---what?---pincers? Arms? Legs? Erector set pieces? It should make us terrified, but you gave these dolls a kind of tranquil expression, so even though they're coming at us en masse, they seem rather kindly. I love your procession pieces from this series: With creatures coming at us in a procession. You have a deep grouping here, with heads going back into space. And, as in others of this series, your sky is a bold hue, this time with a mix of blues and purples. Terrific piece---you even gave eyebrows to these "people"---in light gray. Lots of fun, and really well conceived. These pieces are combos of geometry, high color sense, the macabre, the prehistoric, science fiction, and great humor. Love it.
