Description

I posted another picture of this dead tree a year and a half or so ago, and kept this one back in my now-almost-famous "not posted" file. I try not to bore you with duplicate images. Here's the first one: Modern Dance At the time, Andrea sent me this picture, which you may have seen: here's a link I've used the Topaz filter entitled "Tarawa Boat in Cove" on this image. Sort of HDR, sort of smudged. i thought it achieved a nice blend of hard edges and softness. Full view is good.

First, I love Andrea's pic about "interpretative dance"! Next, I saw the earlier version, and I loved how you let the tree be only a part of the whole---off center---and yet the most light-filled part of the shot. We got to see it as if it were a dancer in a concert, and we were viewing from our seats. I thought it was beautiful...

Second, this one puts the tree front and center, and it really is doing a complex dance, and the light on it is painterly, and it gives the tree real presence and power. Also, you've somehow made it feel like it's all on one plane, as if it's consciously presenting itself for our viewing. Powerful and graceful, with a deep dark forest behind...I guess Topaz has great variety. Your filtering here is present, but it is subtly so. Beautifully done and manipulated, Tara.

This is absolutely wonderful, worthy of Balanchine. I wish it was in my garden, I should never tire of it.

Your treatment is perfect suits it perfectly.

I know this tree very well & have photographed it multiple times, but I love how you've transformed it here with your creative postwork (which definitely needs a full size view to fully appreciate)...

A great title for this lovely image, I can see the dancers entwined in this never ending embrace. What an amazing tree, one would never tire of it in the garden. 😀

Twila Tharp surely choreographed this dance-----I LOVE this. Went back and looked at the original, but this is my favorite version. Haven't been around much so I miss way too many of your fotos!!

Yeah, this is quit different from the first one, Tara, and it's more impressing too. Haha, the dance looks almost if he wants to walk away, so you've been very smart to shoot exactly the right moment in his dance. Rather complicated too with so many feet and arms, dear friend.

This is wonderful, Tara! What a gorgeous old tree you've found, and I love what you've done with it! I wonder what other gems you have stashed away in that folder... 😉
