Description
It could be an orbital city or a starship hab ring interior. In any case, such a structure would be immense. I put some decidedly 21st century characters of mine in a 30th century setting. I used the formula for calculating centripetal force to determine that 1 earth gravity would be possible inside this ring if rotated about 1 rpm. The people are almost a quarter mile from the center of hab ring rotation. Housing units are mounted along the hab walls. Antigrav vehicles can be seen going about their business including the antigrav couch the couple hover around in.
Will such technology become available on or before the 30th C? As they say, only time will tell. I built this ring hab in 2005 for a starship interior setting I used in a graphic novel I did a year later.

Nice job. To get 1G standard with that radius (1320 feet) you need to rotate at closer to 1.5 RPM, which equates to a linear velocity of about 140 mph at the .25 mile radius level. I wonder what that would feel like. Would you feel the rotation in anyway other than as centrifugal force? I suspect you'd feel it very slightly or maybe not at all. The reason being that there should be a slight force in the direction of rotation as well as downward towards what would be the floor. This habitat ring is part of an interstellar craft that reaches about 80% SOL. During the approximate 9 month accelleration to that speed, there is the gravity these rings generate during rotation, and gravity generated by the accelleration which would amount to about 1 G. The ships occupants are advised to limit their walking as much as possible to avoid falls.
