I had so much fun and challenge painting this portrait! I love painting portraits, I think because it allows me to pay attention to detail and faces are just so interesting to me. The inspiration for this came from a cousin of mine sharing a photograph of ..... wait for it ... me! .... a 12 year old, sad looking me! I always hated my photos growing up but now I am in my later years, I certainly appreciate them more now than I did then. Of course, this is not how I look or how I really looked, I simply used the photo as a reference.
If I was to paint hair myself in its entirety it would take me days. I've never quite mastered it and so I cheated a bit and used/manipulated some of Ilona's Instant Hair for this work. The jewels are by me and are available at my store (will be taking the store down later this year).
My son is suggesting I should go back through everything I have created using references and post some before and afters .... perhaps I will as time permits ;O-)
Thank you in advance for viewing, for any comments you may leave and for any faves you might give xxx I no longer have time to thank each person individually :O-(

Amazing painting. You have a gift and with such a gift it is amazing that you even bother using poser! I guess one factor would be time, but at what cost? I have to admit that one appeal of photgraphy is the ability to quickly ammass a pile of images to work on. I can get a year's worth of material in a few weeks. Who could fault you for using another artists hair, for it is almost impossilbe to do better than IIona?
