My favorite pilings at our local beach.

It's so fitting that I see this shot now! There are pilings in Chicago, in the neighborhood Corey and I lived in, once upon a time, in a neighborhood far, far away...we'd go there and talk about random things, or craft story ideas that were never actually written down...at least not yet. The starship, Impala was born near such pilings, but it's story has yet to be written, but I have a bit of background information on a particular character with a braid. Corey has been made quite familiar with the "boys with braids" and I wouldn't be surprised if he remembers the snips and snatches of their language. Yeah, I spent a lot of time near the "Rogers Park Mystery Pilings" developing a language spoken by cute, suspiciously-human looking aliens with a habit of wearing braids--well, a single braid, similar to a Jewish earlock, only less symmetrical, since there's only one...oh, and they wear ponytails also. The hairstyle is called "Shadva" but there's a longer story behind that, and don't even get me started on the...um...well...the whole complicated relationships between "shadva" and "uushuut". Suffice it to say that hairstylists on a particular planet have quite a lot to say about braids and ponytails and the proper grades of lacquer used to keep them all nice and shiny. Anyway, it's fitting that I see this image, even though I went off on a tangent involving alien hair, and the names of two particular styles. Pilings do that to me and I absolutely love these! This image has actually triggered thoughts of that so-far-unwritten alien race, and things are coming back to me. I suspect this might have sparked something, and why wouldn't it have done so? It's gorgeous. Wonderfully moody. I love the vibe this imparts and I could easily see myself standing where you stood, spinning all sorts of stories in that thinking part of my brain. This is super!
