Some old-timers among you may remember the “Jungle Jim” comic series, also transferred on TV, starring the immortal Johnny Weissmuller. However, at the same time another jungle series comic appeared in the press stands. It was called “Jungle Jane”. Unfortunately, due to the uproar caused by the various neo-puritan organizations this title didn’t have a long and prosperous life. The other day I happened to bump into a rare issue of this short-lived treasure and I decided to share it with you.
I should appeal here to the descendants of the neo-puritan organizations of yesteryear to please show some indulgence, as this unique piece of pulp is now part of our cultural heritage. If necessary I could cover the exposed parts of the lady’s anatomy with some black tape. (Alternatively I could paint a simple, gray, button-up dress over the figure in order to give the heroine the appearance of those fabulous pioneer women who helped shaping the great North-American nation).
