This very common soldier beetle (Rhagonycha fulva) has a red body, with orange wing cases with black tips and black antennae. These beetles are frequent visitors to very open-structured flowers such as daisies or members of the carrot family eg hogweed and angelica. They feed on nectar and pollen, prey on other insects which are visiting the flowers and spend much of their time mating...
I do not spend a lot of time on this site anymore, but I still do visit regularly the galleries of my friends...
I'd like to dedicate this upload to Lee (Leeco), the master of insects macrophotography !
