Now two beauties are dreaming of the anatomical and science department of the museum. I like the contrast. Regards Anne

So many interesting contrasts and reversals . The split of the painting and the reversal of the ambassadors; the languid women vs. the stiffly formal men, the heart of life over the skull of death/mortality... just to scrape the surface. Impressive work!
Unfortunately I dont have a screen big enough to test the perspective on the heart ;)

As usual Joe, you have seen the essentials. By composing the group of these 2 women from photo, I was struck by the impression of melancholy that emanated from them. The luxury trunk undoubtedly containing some valuable travel items oriented my interpretation towards the flight of time and precious moments. This is how Holbein's painting appeared to me. To cut the painting in two, by doubling it, seems to me a greater gap to open up its meaning. Between the knowledge of the world (the globe) and the knowledge of pleasures (the lute) time is given to us to love, even if these moments slip by at our fingertips (position of the hands). We live to the rhythm of a beating heart, the perspective of which escapes us.
