(it's entirely too late, but I'm up and saw you'd posted again---woo-hoo!!! 2 in a row from Mark!!!---so I ran here right away) I never made the connection between Cartman and Trump, and my only reservation is that your thoughts may be an insult to Cartman. ("Screw you, Trump---home...") I'll grant that Trump has some bold instincts, but he's so wholly out of his element in that office, and so driven by demons and ego and deep hurt and retribution, he nearly destroys any good intention he has. I don't imagine an adult Eric Cartman would be nearly as spoiled as Trump, but that tantrum-y "I can do what I want..." is still Trump-ish to a tee. My father was a lawyer, and he would've shouted, "you're not above the LAW, Mr. President!" then he'd add: "And I say 'Mr President' with real reservations..." I'm with you 100% Mark. I've got plenty of criticisms of Democrats---and I'm firmly on the Left---but I hear many fine Republicans say they can't bear what's happened to their party. (In your last upload, Bill said that he didn't leave the party, it left him...Many would echo that sentiment.) Maybe Trump is a national boil coming to a head: I don't know. I just hope we get someone much more competent and wise in 2020. As an historian, you know how many great nations had deep plunges into darkness (the 20th C showed that brilliantly), so let's just hope that we come out of this plunge stronger; and there are many signs that we can. Btw, I read the Eisenhower speech you referenced yesterday, and it's something. I knew his famous farewell speech (on the military industrial complex, etc), but I had no idea he'd been so brilliant in other speeches. Like you say, one who's been in war has understanding that many others do not. Great to see you here again Mark. You and your prodigious and passionate heart are welcome here anytime!

I have never seen South Park, but I’m sure you must be right about Cartman. My only disagreement with you is that I think Trump is perhaps an older version of Cartman. Nowhere near a grown-up.

it's weird, but Trump finds lots of support from Russian authorities. I just do not understand, except that they must believe what's bad for the USA is good for Russia?
