Yes it's a hoverfly. (Hoverflies get a lot of attention in this site!) In your shot, the fly is almost standing upright---well, perpendicular---and it's really striking: His eyes are like the top of a big container. Or the top floor of some structure. And you caught him in front of one of the flower bursts, as if it's bursting for him. And we get to see the tiny flower shapes in the "starbursts" of yellow flowers. A very revealing shot, and beautiful.
