If you lived in Savannah, Georgia in the 1880s, you could have bought this house new:). We walked for several miles through Savannah's historic districts (there is more than one) and took lots of pictures. These homes are beautiful, but a little larger than we need. I looked at this house using Google Maps and see that they have a swimming pool in the backyard...know that's not from the 1880s!

Love your photo! This was one of my favorite houses from that day, and I'm glad to see you post this, because I'm quite sure I didn't get this shot! I was all excited about those conical porch roofs with the vines. The perfectly saturated blues and greens are a bmac trademark. :)
I got to see Savannah several years ago, and I swear I saw this house!! I loved how every block or two had a park in the middle as well. It's an amazing place. I remember walking along the riverfront and seeing a freaking building sailing up the water. Well, it wasn't really a building, just one of those HUGE freighters chugging along!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!!
lol, andrea---you could sell your pics to real estate agents! (Yeah, your pics are too good for that.) And lol, Mark: You found his house. Well if he doesn't want it, I'll take it. Now this is what I call a real "Bill" shot. It's luminous (full size esp), it has clarity everywhere, the greens are popping, the whites so strong---real 'trim' stuff: the light brings home why they do trim in the first place---the contrasts of trees with the sheerer surfaces of the shingles, etc, is beautiful, and the long mellow lines of the stairs are beautiful. Beautiful work, Bill, you caught the full regalia of not only the house, but the whole surrounding. Even the street to the side...Bet you guys wanted to stay there longer...you were there at the perfect time of the year! A real beauty of a shot, sir W.
