Description

Hot and dry and the jacaranda loves it. The official temperature yesterday in Phoenix ( at the airport) was 108 F (~42 C) and in Glendale in the West Valley it was 111 F (~44 C), It was also 44 C at my house (in the shade and well ventilated). The overnight lows were 25 C. The bougainvillea at the left, (the neighbors) the jacaranda in the center, and the Mexican bird of paradise (right) thrive in this. Rainfall since the beginning of the year stands at 2.4 inches (61 mm). The last rain was in February. The red colors of the bougainvillea are leaves, not blossoms, and the hummingbirds know it. This picture was taken this morning, 6 May 2017, Sig...

Lovely home and flora, but I'm kinda glad I have to put up with all the high water instead of the punishing heat.

Well Sig, you wouldn't like to see a picture of my neighborhood today ! It's cloudy, wet, rainy, damp... I think you understand the general idea😂 So thanks for sharing this beautiful and sunny shot of your country : it warms me up a little bit ! Magnificent trees and bushes !

Nice photo. The architecture is interesting. Pueblo influences? As long as it's dry heat, but this and 100% humidity (like in Philadelphia and the Gulf coast) is dreadful. The hottest I've experienced was the Ojai Valley in 1968 (114 degrees F or 45 degrees C). Going from the bus to the restaurant was like going into an oven. Inhaling was not fun and mouth dried out fast. No perspiration - it evaporated very fast. So it was less uncomfortable, but still.... Keep up the good work. Would be nice to see some of your surroundings. :-)

So very interesting.
I should not want to swap with you, though, I can't take extreme heat or cold. You have a lovely house!

Well it cooled down big time. A powerful Pacific Low, kind of late for this time of year, cooled us down alright. 98 F on Saturday for a high and 74 F today - a 34 F at the airport and 37 F in Glendale cool down. There is also a slight chance of rain and/or thunderstorms and snow above 8,000-ft, on Monday and Tuesday, but back up to the upper 90s by the end of the coming weekend..

Your tree is so beautiful! It's easy to see why you love it so much. What a gorgeous thing, standing there to greet you when you come home! You can keep your hot weather, my friend. We're back in Washington, and today it was 65F here. Supposed to be 69F or 70F tomorrow. That's plenty warm enough for May, in my opinion!
