Description

Three hundred feet beneath the French village of Crozet lies one of the greatest engineering feats our species has ever fashioned. It is called the Large Hadron Collider. It is the largest (by far) particle accelerator in the world. It was constructed for the modest purpose of answering the question of God, the universe and everything. Within this vast machine, two beams of sub-atomic particles will race in opposite directions around a tunnel, which forms an underground ring 17 miles in circumference. The particles will be guided by more than a thousand cylindrical, super-cooled magnets. The beams will converge within giant multistory detectors, sending the particles crashing into each other at nearly the speed of light. It is anticipated that all of this pomp and circumstance will result in the discovery of the Higgs Boson The Higgs Boson, also popularly referred to as the ‘God Particle’ is a hypothetical massive elementary particle predicted to exist by the Standard Model of particle physics. It is referred to as the ‘God Particle’ because it is postulated as permeating the universe and imparting the characteristic of mass to all things. Without mass, the universe would not exist; so in a very real sense the Higgs Boson is the creative force of physical reality. That is, if it exists. If it is not found, there will be a very large number of Nobel level physicists heading for the tall grass. I believe it exists because I have great confidence in the Standard Model of particle physics. Since I have spent a lot of time thinking about it, I thought I would share one of my fanciful visions of it. Hence, today’s rendering. I hope you like it. Created in Ultra Fractal

Very cool, the Tevatron at Fermilab apearently didn't have the power to find it but the massive Large Hadron Collider should either confirm it's existance or send everyone back to the Blackboards. Particle Physics, though way over my head. is a compelling subject to read, the search for Quarks and Charmed Particles as well as the study of Astronomy and Cosmology, the search for Dark Matter. All very close cousins to Explorations of Fractals it seems to me, maybe the reason fractals fascinate me so much, there just seems to be a Fundamental Truth to these things. Splendid work **Peace88

a fascinating subject and an stunning fractal. I think the background is perfect; very heavenly and airy compared to the more solid, central piece. this is nice work!

Wonderful image Stan, This is a gorgeous idea of what it could look like. I have no background at all in nuclear physics so will leave the speculation to those that understand such things. I do know I have heard of protestors that swear when this thing is on line it has the ability to create a black hole that would then swallow the earth and eventually our galaxy. Frankly that sounds like a jump in logic I dont follow, but it is hard to do any type of research without some group or another deciding it has dire consequences.

I love your version of the Higgs Boson it has a wonderful flair to it. I hope good things come out of the Hadron Collider after its shaky start. It is amazing how it works isn't it. Excellent work.

Does it come in different colors? Maybe in different patterns? This is a great interpretation of Higgs Boson!
