Description

English translation (approximately) of latin title: of This is the time f great fear. 1989, fall ot the Berlin's wall. 1991, dissolution of Soviet Union. The Cold War ended! A new era of peace and prosperity began... or not? Is it only impression of mine or something gone wrong? The younger generations, born after that age, cannot understand and they join this world as it is, as ordinary and normal. Unfortunately many promises have been betrayed. The new era of peace and prosperity never arrived. Ironically, as often happens in history, the new era is, as possible, much worse and more dangerous than the previous. A friend of mine, who is a physicist, told me the the one represented in the image above is a thermonuclear (hydogen bomb or H-Bomb) explosion. Probably it is one of the image of the Tsar Bomb, the Western nickname for the Soviet RDS-220 hydrogen bomb, the most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated, tested on October 30, 1961. Estimated over 50 megatons yeld (over 3,000 times Hiroshima's A-Bomb); remains the most powerful man-made explosion known in human history (for more details see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsar_Bomba). I'm not interested in strategic issues and nuclear weapons themselves. The main issue is another: the crazy world of Cold War was, after all, safest than the world of today. Ironic... isn't it? My friend physist, who knows many things behind the scenes, told me that the thermonuclear global war would never occurred (and this is a fact!), because in those days there was real fear. Alcohol, drugs and more there were too, but not like today, in ALL areas and levels of society. At the time, the fear and a little common sense prevented the catastrophe, but today who can guarantee? You can really believe in leaders today? Politicians who change their minds (and political direction) at any time. And they are often unable to solve problems, rather they creates more ... but what we elect them to do? Financial speculators who flaunt omnipotence and invincibility, playing (because this is the real term to use) on financial markets destroying the real economy (on this regard I recommend you read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-frequency_trading). All this permitted by international institutions that none of us has elected. Why do we let him go? Democracy? What democracy? We vote but then another is decided and did it anyway. And there is always a justification for this (economic crisis, terrorism, etc.). Faces changing but oligarchies are always there, ever richer and everyone else poorer. Someone once said, in the world there are resources for all but not for everyone's greed. During the Cold War there were international rules, questionable if you want, but at least they were clear and not continuously changing. Today the nations leave projects and historical paths, difficult but progressive, in favor of falsely patriotic opportunism. Everyone wants to do as they like. It is convenient to leave the trouble to others after creating them with foolish choices. Human being has personal and global limitations. I found reasonable to try to overcome our limitations. Otherwise I think is insane to overcome natural limit. Is it acceptable that so many people want to take the role of God? I don't think so! The megalomania, sense of invincibility and omnipotence of many peoples is really dangerous, today more than the past days. During the Cold War the possibility that there was a real nuclear war was quite low. I repeat: fear and common sense have always prevailed. We would not be here talking about, otherwise. Today the story is another. Today no one can guarantee anything. They have lost credibility and authority. So many words, but also a lot of manifest inability ... or maybe I have to think of a crime will? People who hold our lives are stupid or criminals? The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse. All of us have, intentionally or not, participated in this madness. We have degraded the world we live in and we are destroying what little civilization we had hardly built. And yet we can not stop us. What I've shown in Figure I thought I left behind, instead today I see it in front of our path. Is it the goal of mad rush our contemporary society? What will we leave to our children? Our grandchildren will never come into the world? And what world? All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Please, continue to do nothing. Our children will thank us!

if they are so unwielding to change when they know they were wrong leads to mayhem. "Brilliant" people sometimes engage in misleading thinking. then they try to influence others. an acquaintance that is brilliant in researching companies for possible investment by others has engaged in misleading thinking. he believes that there are military bases on all of our planets including the backside of the moon. he has several master degrees from Harvard Univ. and from Wall Street training courses while working there, also including universities in Texas and Oklahoma all paid for from scholarships. He was a professor of business at SMU in Highland Park Texas. he is really a terrific person but I take what he says with a "bag of salt".

very intriguing art

Another Year passed already my friend...I remember that test of the H_Bomb in Russia, I was about 11 then it was a big Boost for the Sellers and Builders of Bomb Shelters here. I lived in Kansas in the Shadow of Minuetman Missle Silos just Yards away, the Cold War effect was a heavy weight for us having Ground Zero Targets painted on our backs. Yet as you say the Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) defense and Common Sense as you call it of our Leaders prevailed because knew there would be No Winners in a Nuclear Holocaust. Not sure what we can do when Mutually Assured Destruction holds no sway over those in Power. Here in America it scares me so much to hear a Man running for President say "What's wrong with using NUKES" is the Man insane. I personally think he is and the Nukes comment is only one reason why but it's a doozie enough. Everything you say is correct we are less safe today than when we worried about Bombs that could Destroy us All because there was a Saftey then, that Safety has been Removed if we cannot look at each other and Not be scared. Ignorance is no excuse, open a Book, Read some History see what was done wrong in the past and learn or were going to do it again, the World is a very Small place it won't take that much to make it an Irellevant Space in Time....

Be at Peace my Friend

Brilliantly done and yes...we certainly live in interesting times... I am right now watching as my country decides to vote in the next despotic dictator or not. And being the largest military power in the world, handing that to him is beyond insane...it makes me fear for the entire world.

Excellent image, and I worry about the future of the world we live in constantly. When I look at those who want to lead us, it makes me sad. All I can do is hope, pray and work towards helping to make the world better, not only our children, but for theirs as well.

A marvelous image to illustrate the chaos of our times. This is the "me" generation. All civility seems to have been lost. Humans as with other species, have certain imperatives: territory and procreation. Most conflicts arise out of one wanting more territory. Thus it has always been and will always be.

An interesting concept very beautifully created. The world certainly isn't the place it once was, too much greed. 😀

A great concept to your story. As long as mankind existed there has always someone been that wanted to rule the world. In most of the times a church was involved. Wasn't it that people search for a goddess help when they were down to the ground. Democracy does not exist, because behind close doors they there are made shady dealings. Because of this all people arise that could bring with their ideologies wrong thoughts to countries with nuclear possibilities. China is warning the world, Russia is building troupes along there border and the US is building their space shield with a possibility that a wrong man could push the wrong button. No one should have that power. No land should go to war. No religion should behave to kill or to tread. Time rushes and people are running bye with the time they find. I hope that we or our children, grandchildren and so on, will never find such fool on our way. In between we make our world brighter with our artworks and the joy we find in our friends all over the world.

this is prophetic for the next years in Europe. We must get a look for those whose only intention is to destabilze the world for a new world order of the Antichrist. Great and touching render this

Absolutely a beautiful image, especially able to introduce a much importranti series of thoughts you mentioned in the text. Of course the illusion of a period of peace went absolutely lost, but we must all shoulder our responsibilities. We demand that the powerful give us peace but we can not avoid arguing with the neighbor for trivial things like the leaves of the plants that fall on our garden. Personally, I believe we must do an operation directed to the recovery of culture of tolerance even in absolute compliance with public cohabitation laws. As in past centuries while baruffano people for petty issues the powerful most unscrupulous take advantage to make their own business also disproportionately above ethics.
