Description

Würger. German for "Shrike". Also known as the "Butcher Bird" due to its... gruesome... method of dispatching prey. In the skies over WWII Europe, the FW-190 was a terrifying sight for Allied aircrews. It was fast, tough and heavily armed: those two holes in the wings are for the 20mm cannons; there are also a pair of 7.62mm machine guns mounted above the engine. It's an impressive, even imposing, aircraft from just about any angle. And amazingly streamlined, considering the big radial engine buried in that cowling!

Supposed to have been superior to the old 109. Fine shot!

Cool angle, great photo, unfortunately the last view of the Fw190 of many Allied pilots. No outer wing guns, so I guess this is an 'F' model...
