Description

I have been trying to improve this head since I last posted it, this is not a straight render from Maya, I spent ages in Photoshop with it playing about with the levels and colours and making some areas darker or lighter

it's really good, but on the forehead, you can tell that the face and skin texture is symmetrical, it's probably hard, by try and get rid of that.

Also, where are his eyebrows? It kind of makes him look like a burn victim.

I can't put my finger on it, but there is something about him that makes him look kind of freakey. Maybe its his cheekbone structure or something...nice, but there is something about it that just doesn't sit quite right.

He looks like he's blasted out of his skull.. The plucked eyebrows and dyed hair got me thinking cross dressing goth boy. Nice work btw.

i think what modulok is saying is right. his skin looks like leather to me. You could get a knife on his skin and blunt it. I dont know how you would do it but make his skin softer.Plus everytime some one does a realistic face they never round off the eye lids. i could cut my finger on his....but what do i know.

Holy crap!! I wouldn't have guessed that this is not a photo if I hadn't seen your progression and the flat shade render below. Outstanding realism!

It looks excellent except for the hair, which looks like it's transparent because there aren't real strands. The lack of eyebrows is okay, but he looks like a stoner who just got off chemo treatment. But the skin has a realistic glow to it, very good lighting and texturing, I have to ask though, do you make your "skins" from scratch or do you photograph people to make them?

jeez, im blown away too, i can see his eyebrows but they need to be thicker, now this looks perfect to me tho, its almost perfect, however the mischeivious (dunno how to spell that) look with the black eye seem kinda creepy, maby make him happier?

this is good work.....and anyone that work on realism in 3d models -seriously- will know how hard it is to get this kind of result....I have to say that you are good....and it shows....the hair does need work though....however simple, all you have to do is to add "less" opacity at the root of the hair and add a little "shine"....the content of your image is very candid....and therefore, adds great realism to your model....post an update....

i voted this for top 20, this is amazing. i looked at it and said "there is no way this is not a photo" when i loaded the whole picture, i said the same thing, then i saw the flat-shaded version under it and my mouth pretty much just hung open :p it's just too damn realistic man :pppp

I disagree with the comments on the eyebrows. I think most artists render eyebrows too thick and pronounced. You rarely see that in nature, especially with kids. As usual, your work is amazing and the best on Renderosity and on Industrial Light & Magic for that matter.

If I had to be ultra critical I would say that the forehead appears unnaturally rounded at the temples and the bridge of the nose is too smooth, but hey who needs perfection?! Excellent work, truly fantastic!
